Learn the principles and techniques of plant propagation from seed, cuttings, layering, and divisions with the Garden’s Director of Horticulture, Brian Galligan, and Deputy Director, Chad Washburn. Each participant in this fun and engaging class will have the opportunity to take plant material from the course home for practice.

Brian Galligan’s love for plants began early. At the age of thirteen, Brian managed his own landscape design, installation, and maintenance company. After graduating from Auburn University with a horticulture degree, Brian moved to Naples, Florida, to learn a new and interesting plant palette. At Naples Botanical Garden, Brian has worked with landscape architects to create the Asian, Brazilian, Caribbean, Children’s, Florida, and Water Gardens.
Chad is the Deputy Director at Naples Botanical Garden and is the past Director of Conservation and Education. In this role he oversees the Garden’s efforts to conserve and research the flora of the 26th latitudes and to promote sustainable horticultural practices. He regularly speaks to local professional groups and homeowners about the use of native Florida plants in restoration projects and sustainable landscapes. Chad received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana, and completed his master’s degree in Applied Ecology from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University in 2002.
