Event Description
Take a walk through the Garden’s natural areas in the Smith Uplands Preserve, and learn about some of the fascinating plants of Southwest Florida that are edible, medicinal, or otherwise useful. Please wear lightweight clothing, long sleeves and pants, closed-toe shoes, hat, and sunglasses. Please also bring a water bottle, and wear sunscreen and insect repellent if you are sensitive to the sun and mosquitoes.

Lewis Barrett, originally from the UK, has lived in Naples since 2005. He studied Biology at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), and graduated in May of 2016. During his time at FGCU, he was a Student Naturalist – leading tours through local environments for fellow students, and a Service-Learning Coordinator at the Food Forest – a ½-acre permaculture garden. Lewis now works as a Native Plant Specialist at Naples Botanical Garden.
