Birding in the Natural Areas
Believe it or not, prior to restoration of our natural areas, few birds flocked to the Garden. Our marsh was so overrun with invasive plants that there was simply nowhere for common wading birds like egrets and herons to land and feed. Now, though, Naples Botanical Garden is a birding hotspot. On this tour, learn why different ecosystems attract different avian visitors and find out how to identify some commonly sighted birds at the Garden. This guided walk will culminate on the James and Linda White Birding Tower to look for birds passing through on their migration route. Participants should be prepared to walk about one mile/90 minutes on uneven terrain. Binoculars are recommended, but not required.
