Event Description
Please Note:
Jennifer Jewell’s Author Talk & Book Signing are being rescheduled. For more information, please reach out to us at info@naplesgarden.org.
Thank you for your understanding.
You are invited to join Jennifer Jewell, creator and host of the winning public radio program and podcast Cultivating Place, for a fun evening as she discusses her new book, The Earth in Her Hands: 75 Extraordinary Women Working in the World of Plants.
Jewell explores and celebrates how the plant world is improved by greater representation of women generally but also by diversity amongst those women – chronicling how working in the world of plants is a more viable and creative career path for women than ever before and how the plant-work world is demonstrating greater social and environmental impact and responsibility, in large part due to women’s contributions.
Joining the conversation will be Donna McGinnis, President & CEO of Naples Botanical Garden since 2017. Together they will examine the role of women in the botanical garden industry, the rise of women executives heading U.S. botanic gardens, and the evolution of the Garden’s own Horticulture staff with its growing cadre of women gardeners.
