Join us for a hands-on and in-depth discussion on natural home and body care products that are simple to make! We will make and take natural sunscreen bars, natural shimmer lipstick, vanilla latte sugar scrub, natural all-purpose spray, and air freshener! Everyone will leave with a laminated guide for natural clothes stain removal, as well as an in-depth packet on various homemade care product recipes, like laundry detergent, cold pressed soap, scouring powder, skin oil cleansing methods, lotion/bar/spray deodorants, dry and liquid shampoo recipes, natural makeup (mascara, foundation, eyeshadow and blush), toothpaste, perfume, and much more. Briana Marino is a Florida Gulf Coast University alumna, earning her bachelor’s degree in environmental studies in fall 2014. During her studies, Briana lived on a self-sustaining farm, Rancho Margot, through an honors study abroad program. Located in the Arenal region of Costa Rica, Briana found a deep sense of place. Upon return home, she began her own small homestead. Briana is the Garden to Table Program Coordinator at Naples Botanical Garden. This program partners with the Lorenzo Walker Technical College Culinary Program. As an educator, she hopes to foster a sense of place in the local food community and show her students what sustainable purchasing practices look like through hands-on, in-depth field trips. Currently, Briana is working on developing community workshops to educate the public on a variety of farming practices, cooking, and personal wellness.
Emily Maya is the Smith Children’s Garden Coordinator for Naples Botanical Garden. Her interest in nature and gardening grew through family camping and canoeing trips in the wilds of Florida. This inspired her to earn her B.A. in environmental studies through Florida Gulf Coast University in 2014. As a true kid-at-heart, she strives to add a sense of lighthearted creativity and wonder to everyday life.
