Succulents aren’t just for the desert.
The Foster Succulent Garden supports a plethora of plants associated with arid regions but right at home in Naples. This display features hundred of cacti, succulents, and other compatible species from the Americas, Africa, Madagascar, Australia, and the Arabian Peninsula. It also showcases cycads, prehistoric plants that are among the world’s most endangered.
Reminiscent of plateaus, raised beds allow for close inspection of these charismatic plants, which feature impressive spines, towering flower spikes, and other eye-catching attributes. Flowering plants such as Adeniums, commonly called “desert roses,” add pops of color. Creviced boulders create a textured, multi-dimensional look, and towering baobabs, known as the “Tree of Life,” serve as the garden’s gateway.
