Event Description
Grafting Basics will begin with a brief presentation of why plants are grafted along with the history of grafting. Participants will get to see different examples of grafting before getting to try their hand at the craft. Each participant will get to wedge graft two trees, an avocado and a Tabebuia ‘Carib Queen’, to bring home for a yard or lanai.

Marc Gingras is the IPM (Integrated Pest Management) Specialist at Naples Botanical Garden. He is an eighth generation Florida native and professional horticulturist. He graduated from Florida Southern College with a B.S. in Horticulture Science with concentrations in Citrus Culture and Business Management. He is also a Florida Nurserymen and Growers Association Certified Horticulture Professional. Prior to joining Naples Botanical Garden, he was involved in Wholesale Nursery Management, Landscape Management, and Commercial Vegetable Breeding all in Southwest Florida. He has been growing and propagating tropical plants since childhood, has extensive knowledge of south Florida flora, and is happy to share his knowledge gained from years of personal experience in our region.
