Event Description
This class will focus on gardening for food in your lanai, small backyard plot, containers and more. You will learn many methods to help you grow food in any size space and learn how to care for those plants. Santiago will talk about vegetables, herbs, and even edible flowers. Come and see how food production is possible in a small space!

Santiago De Choch is originally from Argentina. He spent several years traveling 
around the world and participated in community agriculture projects in locations as diverse as Bolivia, Mexico, Greece and Israel before settling in southwest Florida 15 years ago. A small farmer, gardener, and beekeeper, his presentations deal with organic food production in this part of the world; dealing with the region’s many challenges due to its subtropical growing conditions; and techniques and ideas picked up from growers both far away and local. Santiago spends his time developing his small farm in Pine Island, caring for customers’ edible gardens, and managing the Alliance for the Arts Green Market on Saturdays.
