Field Trip Program Options

Use the Garden as your classroom! Join Educators on a guided Garden adventure to learn about the flora in our Garden’s collection.

Butterflies & Other Bugs (PreK)
What do butterflies, grasshoppers, and mosquitoes all have in common? They’re all insects! In this program, we’ll learn what all insects have in common, find out why bugs are so important and investigate insect life cycles up-close.

Feathered Friends (PreK)
What’s your wingspan? Are you bigger than a hawk, but smaller than a pelican? Find out the answer to these questions and many more as we learn about the feathered friends that fly all around us. We’ll also learn how to use binoculars to spot birds here at Naples Botanical Garden!

Colors of Nature (PreK)
Take a “color hike” through the Garden to explore the kaleidoscope of colors you can find in the plants growing here! Together, we’ll find out how to extract color from flowers and create a beautiful nature mandala for all the Garden’s visitors to enjoy.

Edible Areas: Green Thumbs (PreK), Dirt Made My Lunch (K-2nd), or Plant to Plate (3rd-5th)
What plants are hiding on your plate? Learn about the different ways the Garden grows edible plants from around the world. This field trip will also provide students with a hands-on gardening opportunity.

Wild Florida Explorers (K – 5th)
Naples Botanical Garden is home to a variety of native plants and animals that occupy a range of habitats. Our cultivated gardens are filled with flowers from tropical regions attracting an array of butterfly species, while the Natural Areas showcase the diversity of our region’s unique ecosystems. In this program, students will explore a butterfly’s life cycle, discovering their specialized adaptations, and embark on a guided scavenger hunt to uncover some of Florida’s native wildlife.

Island Explorers (3rd-5th) or Tropical Topics (6th – 8th)
Southeast Asia and the Caribbean might be on opposite sides of the globe, but they have more in common than one might think. Students will put on their thinking caps to imagine what it’s like to live on an island and find out how they can use the plants around them to survive.

Garden Sense-ations (PreK – 12th+)
Use your five senses to observe and interact with the Garden! When we bring awareness to the use of our senses, we can enhance the meaning of our sensory experiences.

Self-Guided Garden Exploration (PreK – 12th +)
Explore the Garden at your own pace! Travel through our cultivated gardens to search for our beautiful orchids, tropical fruits, native butterflies, and more. Garden Scavenger Hunt activities are provided to enhance your self-guided experience.

Each virtual field trip is hosted through Flip, a free platform that uses either a Microsoft or Google account to access using a unique code. Each virtual field trip also includes a supplemental activity booklet to follow along with each video. Check out the options below to see what program meets your needs.
