Position Title: Irrigation Technician Department: Horticulture Status: Full-Time Reports to: Director of Horticulture Position Summary: Full time position available for an Irrigation Technician who will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining all of the Garden’s irrigation systems. Responsibilities include: - Installing new systems and ensuring they function efficiently
- Performing routine wet checks and maintenance
- Repairing and maintaining valves, tracing electrical components, installing and initializing clocks and timers, locating existing zones and valves and performing pump repairs.
- Adhering to Garden’s safety policy and ensuring that the public will be safe while in contact with the crew
- Keeping a computerized log of maintenance
- Reporting results to supervisor
Educational Requirements and Technical Skills: - Minimum of 1 year experience working with a 2 wire commercial irrigation system
- Strong work ethic and versatility regarding other horticulture activities
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task and work in a fast–paced environment
- Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
- Computer skills needed – MS Office

Position Title: Education Intern Department: Education Reports to: Education Manager Position Summary: Responsible for assisting in the development of education programs and providing support to Education Department staff. This position is a 12-week internship to start in mid-May. Primary duties: - Assist the Education Manager in development of educational programs and materials
- Assists the Education Manager in the development and implementation of outreach programs and materials
- Oversees education volunteers and docents
- Assist in records keeping for tracking school programs attendance and use of funds
- Assists the Education Manager in developing and monitoring an efficient system for stocking and maintaining program equipment and materials
- Delivers extraordinary customer service to all Garden visitors and staff
- This internship includes the opportunity for an independent project as approved by staff
Educational Requirements and Technical Skills: - Experience or coursework in education, environmental education, program delivery as a volunteer or paid employee
- Collegiate level coursework in horticulture, biology, education, environmental education, or a related field
- Excellent communication skills, enthusiasm, and a desire to learn are required
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
- Applicants must possess a valid U.S. driver's license
